I can remember it like it was yesterday, I was a 16 year old city girl from Texas. I was devastated when my mom told me about our move. How could she do this to me? Texas was all I knew; that was where my family, friends, and my LIFE was. Life as I knew it was over.
As we neared our new home, we crossed over the Destin bridge from Okaloosa Island, and that was the first time I had ever seen the Gulf of Mexico. My jaw literally dropped, but I couldn’t let my mom see that. In an instant, I knew that everything was going to change. The road ahead wasn’t going to be easy at first, but maybe my new home wasn’t going to be so bad after all.
We all know that at 16, everything that happens to us is so dramatic. In fact, looking back on that time in my life is comical now. Had it not been for my mom deciding to move our family to Florida, I never would’ve met my husband. The new life that she decided to give us turned out to be the greatest blessing. Now, as I sit here and look around the room at my four beautiful children and my amazing husband, I have to stop and take a deep breath and ask myself, “Is this real?”
In desperation of capturing every moment of motherhood, I purchased my first DSLR. My hobby eventually became Nichole Burnett Photography. After a few years of being in business, I noticed that I had developed a specific editing style. I started creating my own photoshop actions and playing around with different processing techniques. Other photographer friends started commenting on how they liked my processing style, and that planted a seed in my head. I decided to start offering Make Believe actions to other photographers looking to achieve that dreamy look and feel.
